The five we're exploring today are:

1. Words of Affirmation (the power of kind words)

2. Acts of Service (love through helpful deeds)

3. Receiving Gifts (expressing love with thoughtful presents)

4. Quality Time (bonding through undivided attention)

5. Physical Touch (yep, you guessed it, it's all about loving physical contact)

Discovering your love language is like getting a sneak peek into your heart's user manual. It's how you tell others what makes you feel loved. And when you're fluent in others’ love language, it's like having the secret key to their heart's treasure.

👴🏼 Baby Boomers vs Gen Z:

Love languages aren't solely timeless; they serve as cross-generational bridges. Baby Boomers, who came of age in an era where love often meant providing for the family, might lean towards "Acts of Service." For them, actions speak louder than words.

Now, compare that to Gen Z, the tech-savvy cohort. They might vibe more with garnering likes and comments on their TikTok videos—I'm only joking 🤣.

For most of the newer generation, "Quality Time" or "Words of Affirmation" might be a more substantial expression of love.

It's essential to recognize that our methods of saying 'I love you' differ from person to person and from era to era.

The Prophet ﷺ emphasised these virtues: like giving gifts, helping others, being kind to one another and more. This extends not just to your spouse, but to family and friends.

Understanding your love language helps you in expressing these virtues more effectively, which strengthens relationships.

Here's the fun part: applying what we've learned. Identifying your love language, as well as those around you, is like having a secret codebook for nurturing your relationships.

Keep this in mind; we're not robots, so our love language doesn't always perfectly match the test results. The point of love languages is to make you aware that there are various ways to express and receive love.

• Discover Your Love Language: Start by finding out your primary and secondary love languages. This simple test offers invaluable insights.

• Share and Discuss: Encourage your loved ones to take the test too.

• Speak Their Language: Begin consciously communicating in others’ love language. Compliment, perform thoughtful acts, or enjoy quality time as needed.

• Practice Patience: Adapting to each other's love languages takes time. Be patient as you navigate this new territory together.

• Observe and Adapt: Pay attention to your partner's love expressions. Adjust your approach for their happiness.

As you follow this checklist, remember that your efforts aren't solely about enhancing romantic bonds with your spouse but also about embodying love, kindness, and compassion in line with your Islamic values.
